To install and configure the X-Sim plugin for the Rev Burner, follow these steps:
- Download the Rev Burner plugin for X-Sim. Extract the content of the zip file it in the XSim\Interfaceplugins folder.
- Connect the Rev Burner to the computer. The rev counter and power supply should be already connected to the Rev Burner at this point.
- Start the X-Sim Profiler. In the Math Setup section create a new axis with the name Rpm. Add the Output 1:1 (GForce) math plugin to the axis and configure it like in the pictures below.
- In the Output Setup dialog, map the created axis to the output of the Rev Burner plugin, like in the picture:
- To configure the Rev Burner, open the Interface Settings dialog, select the Rev Burner interface plugin and click the Open Settings button to show the configuration screen.
Click the Import button (F) and select the correct profile for your rev counter. The profiles are located in the Profiles folder contained in the download ZIP file. Choose the right file based on the maximum RPM value of your rev counter and the number of cylinders it is configured for. Usually the number of cylinder is chosen moving a switch on the back of the rev counter.
The profile contains the number of pulses per minute for each range of RPM values. The picture above displays the profile for a 8.000 RPM rev counter. 480 (see B in the picture) is the number of pulses per minute the Rev Burner will send to the tachometer in order to make it display 3% of its range (8.000 RPM x 3% = 240 RPM).
The number of pulses per minute for a particular range can be adjusted to much the response of a particular rev counter. In order to do that, type the new value in the textboxes (for example in B) or move the corresponding slider (for example C). The new value can be checked clicking the Test button (D) and observing whether the rev counter is displaying the correct rpm.
