Title: Can't config rFactor to run with SimDash
Post by: Sleepy81 on January 30, 2011, 10:13:26 pm
Hi!

This is what I have done:

I click the Configure button after selecting rFactor from the list I browse to my rFactor instalation folder (C:/Program Files/rFactor).

When I the click OK, I get a warning box saying "A critical error occured". If I then click OK to clear the warning box, and then OK again to confirm my rFactor path, SimDash crashes...

Any solution to this?

Using Windows 7 Home Premium, and have the Revburner, SPI-D, Simscreen and GI-max connected.

Hello Sleepy81.
Sorry for this problem.
Are you using the latest version of SimDash? (v.1.3.1)

In order to have more details of the problem, I am asking you to do this:

Can you send that file to me please?  contact@symprojects.com

When you have finished remember to change the modified line back to the original content.

Can you also send me the list of files contained in c:\Program Files\rFactor\plugins

Thanks.
Cristiano

Hello.
I have done some investigation and I think I have found something useful.
When you configure rFactor, SimDash copies a dll in c:\Programs\rFactor\Plugins

With Windows 7, the c:\Programs folder is read-only so the dll cannot be copied.

To fix this problem you must be logged in as an administrator. Also, right-click SimDash.exe (in C:\Program Files (x86)\SymProjects\SimDash) and choose Properties. Then check "Run this program as An administrator"

See the attached picture for more details.

This hopefully will fix your problem.

Please let me know if it works.

Cheers
Cristiano

Hi again!

Your investigation paid off! Launching SimDash in administrator mode worked!

Thank you!

I have to say, your companies support is excellent!  :)  Not like so many others that gives you some generic half-assed answer to your question...  8) Keep up the good work!
