Title: BMW E36 316 temp and fuel not working
Post by: Mykoliuxas on May 01, 2018, 08:29:29 am
Hello, few weeks ago I received pro-gauge, really happy with it, connected it to BMW E36 316 cluster, speedometer and rpm works great, buut the temp and fuel gauge don't want to work. Tried configuring, tried configure with signal adapter - nothing. I've connected everything like in this pic I attached:
And I ran out of ideas. Maybe here are some people who could help me.
Thanks

So, connected fuel from Pin 1 (black connector) and water temp pin 18 (blue connector) to pro gauge,  temperature went from 0 to max and nothing happens, and fuel gauge just stays at lowest position and nothing else happens, configured gauges like Mitchell did, still nothing. Im starting to give up with these two gauges. Any more suggestions?

I also had problems at the beginning

you must test from 0-4095 in 10 number steps. (10 . 20 . 30 etc)

set the 100% from the fuel gauge to 10, klick test and than you must your e36 cluster  turn off and on.  the needle does not work, then go to 20, than the e36 cluster off and on etc.

you have to be patient. It will take a while to set it right.

If i'm correct that values are too high. first in the small connector (black) don't put pin 3 to gnd. the fuel gauge simply don't work with him. just connect pin 1 and pin 4.
For the last i need to check my values on my pro-gauge but i assure you if your cluster is ok the fuel and temp gauges will work flawlessly.

Yes, my values were too high, spent almost an hour to find perfect values, and it works! Thanks everyone for help. Another question, maybe it is possible to make average fuel consuption gauge to work? Or is it not possible?

Never tested but i think it only works with the ECU. need to rewire my old cluster with avg. fuel consuption and test it (i don't know if it only works with a signal from ECU or uses too the RPM signal from the cluster itself).

I know if you have the M3 cluster the oil temperature will work  ;D that gauge is in the place of the avg. fuel consup gauge (i have one)
