Title: Pro Shift Question
Post by: grum gti on October 11, 2011, 07:26:02 pm
Would it be possible to get he Pro Shiftboard to output a 12v current rateh than a 5v? my aim is to power each warning light on my alfa clocks as i know what each pin is for the warning light, however they require a 12v source, Just wondering if theres a way of doing ?

Also, does this new version of Simdash output values for LFS such as turbo , idicators, etc? And is their a way to get theses gauges working yet? or is there an ETA on a board that will drive theses?

Cheers

hello.
The Pro Shift can't handle 12V bulbs. can you replace the dashboard lights with the LEDs?

Regard LfS, its plugin already output everything is available for that game.

you can check this page:

http://www.symprojects.com/go/simdash

to see what you can use. definitely turbo pressure and indicators are there.

regard the board to drive the other gauges, I will start working on that in 4-5 weeks

thanks for that tut very handy indeed, although the alfa gauges are a sealed unit inside the casing, you can take the tacho/rev's out the outer casing which leaves you with the face needle and the rear circuit board, this is also in a casing, basically the inner casing sits inside the outer casing, the clocks only have 3LEDS each which power the backlight as far as i can tell , the leds for the warning lights 'seem' to be inside the unit, however opening the unit up to see if there SMD's or LED's is a task in its self lol
as i cannot see an easy way in without damageing the board/face or the needle

i may do ti one day but currently dont want to F*** the clocks up by trying as i cannot really afford a replacment at teh moment

Hi.
if you can't replace the bulbs I think we can build some sort of adapter that connects to the Pro Shift and drives the 12V bulbs. it should be doable.

can you locate one of the wire that connect to the dashboard light? does the light turn on if you connect such a wire to the 12V.

Cheers

hi there cristiano, thanks for the reply,

Yes if you connect a wire to the pin of lets say the "idicator left" in this case its pin 9 (ithink) and then connect that wire to a 12v feed (say from the rev burner) the warning light lights up as it should, ive found the pin outs for protty much every warning light on the dashboard.

an adaptor for the pro shift to output 12v would be vey handy indeed, if thats doable i shall praise you no end lol!

hope to hear from u soon

Cheers

I do not want to open a new theme for ProShift so I ask here.

I replaced the original firmware with Pro Shift alternative firmware and back to original and now I have a problem in the Control Panel,Pro Shift now see as joystick (gamepad).
How do I restore the original icon to the right place?

Hello.

Is it only a problem with the icon? I mean, does the pro shift work well?

To have your icon back you can try the following:

Download USBDeview. this is the link for the 32 bit version:

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3544050/usbdeview/usbdeview-32bit.zip

and this one is for the 64-bit version:

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3544050/usbdeview/usbdeview-64bit.zip

Start the application. it will display all the USB devices installed on your machine, even if disconnected. Select the Pro Shift (VendorId 04d8, ProductId 0205), right click and select "Disinstall the selected devices".
There might be more entries for the Pro Shift: disinstall them all.

Next time you plug the Pro Shift in, it will be detected and installed like the first time, and probably the icon will be back.

Cheers

Pro Shift work superb, icon not problem  ;D but in game e.g. LFS in Option/Controls I have 2 controllers detected and when I unplug Pro Shift I have only my Thrustmaster T500 RS.
I soon make a USB joystick controller (MJoy16-C1) for button box and handbrake, so maybe be a problem.

I tried USBDeview for the 64-bit version and done everything you described but when I connect Pro Shift I get the same result  :'(

Any news?

The news is not good.
It seems that Windows doesn't like how the Pro Shift device and the joystick controller are implemented in the same usb device (it's called USB composite device).

There are different techniques to achieve the same result and I am working on an alternative one.

My suggestion for the moment is not to use the firmware with the buttons but only the original one, until I will release a firmware update.

It won't take long I am almost there.

Sorry for the trouble.

I have completed the new firmware for the Pro Shift. it requires some changes to SimDash to work correctly so I will release at the end of the month when next version of SimDash will be available.

thanks

As I said the firmware is ready and tested. but because it requires a small change in SimDash, I will release it when SimDash 1.3.5 is out, in few weeks.

It wouldn't work with SimDash 1.3.4
