Hi,
I can have the measures of DLC-247?
Do you have a dxf file of Shift light array and Gear indicator or cad design?
Thanks and happy holidays to all!
-
Hello.
I have attached two files with size and position of the PCB and connectors, for the DLC-247 and Shift Light Array.
You have to download the SPrint Layout Viewer to open the files:

Thanks

Hi, received my DLC and displays etc today, very awsome. Took a little while to get the configuration on the DLC shift array sorted as the LEDs don't appear to be connected in any particular order. Ie I would have thought the ones along the top would have been setup in order 1,2,3.....12,13 but to make the array work I had to set it up like 1,2,3,6,5,4......13,11,12 sort of thing.
Anyway I've got two fo the 6 digit screens connected also but I think I'm going to have to have a serious think before I can figure out how to attach the third.
I now have the Rev burner, GI max, SPI-D, Proshift and DLC-247 connected and once I get a insturment cluster I'll hook up the other Rev Burner, yeehaaaa. All I got to do now is find some uses for the 10 LEDs I have spare hooked up to the Proshift lol.
Anyway on to my question. I'm running Rfacter and the current lap time is only updating to the DLC every half second, do you know how I can change this so it updates quicker like the demo video?
Thanks very much, absolutely awsome products and support.
Cheers
Ricky

Hello.
There is a picture on the Shift Light Array product page which tries to explain how the LEDs must be connected:
http://www.symprojects.com/shop/images/325/sli-measure.jpg
I will try to make this thing clearer.
What is the problem with the third 6digit display? is it because some of the pins are already in use by another display? if so, I have been making a kind of pin connector-duplicator what allows more connectors to be connected to the same LEDs. it will take 3 weeks minimum to be available, but I can send you one free if you can wait.
Regarding rFactor, there is nothing you can do, the current lap time is updated only twice every second. in the video I was using GTR2.
What I usually do is to display the current lap time as minutes and second (mm.ss)

Thanks for the quick reply. Sorry I didn't see the lettering on the picture before. Makes perfect sense now lol. There is nothing wrong with the third display, like you said the pins are already used and I'm scratching my head a little when it comes to adding the third. The wires them selves are no problem I'll just alter some of the extra leads I purchased, it's just what pins to put them on.
I know to get the third one up and running I need to use two sets of displays from A,B and C as each bank is running 6 at the moment but that's about it. I'll get it sorted eventually.
I will change the lap time to mins and seconds ans see how that goes.
Thanks

I see the problem with the connectors now. you can't connect the third display. it's because 3 displays share pin 1-8 (on the back of the 6-digit display) and the other 3 displays share pin 9-16. you can still use the available displays on the DLC-247, but only using LEDs or single displays, not multiple one that share connections.
-
So does that mean I can't use the shift array and three six digit displays?
The best I can do is 2x 6 digit, half of the next 6 digit and full shift array including gear indicator. Can't get the other half of the 6 digit connected.
I have currently got the three 6 digit displays connected which use all pins except for pin 20 on each bank. Is there a way I can connect the full array to this? Looking at the total number of displays this can handle it should be possible but I just can't get it.
Thanks

Correct.
you can't have everything working at the same time. The problem is not the total number of displays but that the displays share a number of pins. and this limits the way they can be connected to the controller. I am adding some pictures to the website to explain this better. I didn'y think about this limit initially.

I'm confused by this ???
The demo video of the DLC-247 shows it running at 'full capacity' with the gear shift array, 3 digit speedo, and 3x 6 digit displays, but now you are saying it cannot handle it? How did the setup in the video work?
I bought separate LEDs rather than the shift array so I could build one in a different shape, am I going to end up using more connections on the DLC than the shift array does and not have space for much else? I was hoping to add 2 6 digit displays, to my existing single, triple and 15 LEDs?
-
Yeah I'm a little confused now as well. I've brought the whole package as I was told it will work but now I'm told it won't. One thing I think I have figured out is the shift array on the video sin't the premade shift array Christiano is selling, I think it's seperate LEDs instead.
My issue is I'm trying to use the array which shares pins for everything. I think in your case you will be ok as you have a seperate pin for every LED and you will then have to create some double connectors to join those LEDs to the board. Each LED will have it's own pin 1-16 on one side of the LED and thin 'I think' all share pin 20 on the DLC which does not need to be occupied by the 6 digit displays as they only use 19 pins each.
Well that is now my understanding anyway.

i have added an extra picture in the product pages for the 6-digit and 3-digit displays and for the shift light array, with a schema of how these displays connect to they pins. this may help understand the issue you have.
The dashboard in the video is using all "single" displays. this are flexibility because the pins of each display can be connected to any pins of the DLC-247. if you consider the 3-digit display instead, the pins of thhe three digits share the same pins (see picture in product page). so the three digits will be connected to the same pins of the dlc-247. I hope I have explained well.
Sorry if this wasn't clear from the beginning. if you have bought any displays you can't use, I will buy it back.
If you tell me exactly what displays you have I can tell you what changes you have to do to connect everything. I think if you replage the 3-digit speedometer with 3 single displays you will be fine, but I need to double check with you. I can tell you where to buy the single displays too.
Thank you
-
I'm still confused :D
If the video setup uses single displays, then surely they will still use 8 wires plus common, per display which is far more than there are pins for. The 3 or 6 digit display only use 8 or 16 pins which would be less??
Anyway, I've been studying your diagrams and have a solution which I figure should work, but then again I'm no expert ;)
Can I tap into the 8 wires from the gear indicator (single digit), with wires from 2 lots of LEDS, and add commons, to in effect make a 3 digit display that uses 1 digit and 16 LEDs , but only 8 wires + 3 commons?? If I can then I can plug the 3 digit display into the remaining 9-16 pins of the same connector, I realise I will have to share some common connections between different display pairs. Will this work okay? It would seem to be the way your shift array does it, but less neat. If so it will leave me 2 full connectors free. I might just need to purchase a couple of extra 20 way cables to cut up to make splitter cables.
-
Sorry I got a bit lost myself but have a look at this pictures:
http://www.symprojects.com/wp-content/uploads/DLC247_9562/DLC2471.jpg
it displays how the 24 displays connect to the DLC-247
Now consider the connection of the 6-digit display:
http://www.symprojects.com/shop/images/334/6digits.JPG
Now suppose you connect the 6-digit display to connector C.
Pin 1...16 of the display connect to pins 1...16 of the connector.
Suppose pins A, B and C of the display connect to pins 17, 18 and 19 of connector C.
If you check the first picture you will see that the display is taking display n. 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7
Connect C has still available display n. 4 and display n. 8
But display n. 4 and display n. 8 don't share the 8 cathodes (negative pins) because the 8 cathodes of each of these 2 displays go to a different group of pins of connector C. so display 4 and 8 could be connected to 2 single displays, that share no pins (apart the anode (the positive)).
So you could connect the gear indicator to display n. 4 and a set of 8 LEDs to connector n. 8.
This is not exactly your situation but explains how things work.
Does it help?
-
Yes I see that there will be 2 'spare' displays when a 6 digit is connected because each connector can handle 8 displays, but I would still need to make splitter cables or something, as all 16 pins would be occupied by the 6 digits ? Is that right?
Thanks for the help.

correct.
the pins are already in use by one connector so you can't plug in a second one.
I have designed a small pcb that replicates the pins of a connector but it will take few weeks before it is delivered to me.

Right. Well I shall wait for those to become available rather than trying to make up my own ;D I'm guessing for the DLC to be used to capacity each pin currently on the board really needs to be 4 pins.
For the moment I have connected the single and the 3 digit to connector A, and have connected 16 (well actually 12 at the moment) LEDs to connector B with some DIY common cables. I have mounted it all inside a box, with cutouts at one end for the displays & LEDs. I plan to have other connections to this box for remote displays and a remote shift light.
Really happy with the result so far. Great product, great support.
Thanks
I've attached a few pics, none of which is from quite the angle you see it whilst racing ::) :D
Not the most elegant solution but it does the job for now.

In general that is correct. But if you use the displays in the shop you save some connections. for example the pins connected to the 3-digit displays only need to be connected to another display.

Hello,
I'm planning to connect some of my 7-segment displays through little switches, so that I can switch them on and off during the race (for example if I don't want to see the best laptime for some reason). Is it possible to switch them on and off during the race without damaging the board or crashing the software?
This is going to be my wiring-diagram for a stripboard: (There are no drawn horizontal connections to keep it clean)
(http://www.bilder-upload.eu/thumb/87c52f-1329055696.jpg) (http://www.bilder-upload.eu/show.php?file=87c52f-1329055696.jpg)
The little red pointed lines with the "S1" and "S2" are the switchable interruptions of the signal to pin 17, 18, 19 and 20.
Thanks in advance!

Perfect, thats the answer I was hoping for, thank you. :)

Ok, I wired everything up according to the plan above. I only wired the the left 4 digits yet. When I test them only two digits work and the other two only work half (4 of 8 LEDs). Does anyone get the point why? Is the wiring-diagram wrong?
Or is the problem solved if I wire the other 4 digits too (because of some "rotating" of the signal of the microcontroller)?
I would appreciate any help, thanks!
EDIT: Problem solved, the cable from the DLC-247 to the digit-board had a failure, works fine now ::)

Hey there, I found out that the DLC-247 is way better then the pro shift and I am planning to build my "cockpit" with this now:
I am planning to realize the hole thing with the DLC now, the 3 digits for the speed to + an additional 7 segment display for the gear.
Should be possible, am I right? ;)

Hi all :)
I'm Luke and... newbie ???. I've just bought 1 DLC-247 &... and I've a question: if in the future I'll like to buy a second DLC-247, will it can work together the first (each with its own usb) with only one section of sim dash?
Thank's

Ohhh! :) good!
But now I must try with the first ;). I bought it together n.r 1 "Shift indicator light array and Gear for DLC-247" and n.r 2 0.36" Six digit display for DLC-247.
I'll use them with GT Legend; I hope to have on the "Shift indicator light array and Gear for DLC-247" the blue flag and the red light gasoline reserve.

P.s.: sorry for my bad English :-[

Remember, You can use up to 24 of 7 segment displays or 192 (!) LEDs, you first have to reach this limit ;)

you can use this spreadsheet to check what data GTL supports:

aaahh!!!
No blu flag!!!
No fuel red lamp!!!

Hi, blue flag is what I asked for some time ago for GTR2 (together with other indicators). Christiano wrote, it may come with version 1.3.7 ...
For the red light for gasoline you may use the option to define an absolute number of remaining litres to switch the indicator on (e.g. if x <= 10 litres). That should work similar to the rev indicators.

Hi MadMario
The problem of blue flag may be is of the game that doesn't put out the signal >:(;
For red light of fuel I had also thought to your solution :).
In any way, I think that GTL give more information that "SimDash" uses (spreadsheet to check what data GTL supports:
http://www.symprojects.com/go/simdata), for example if you know XD motec you can check...
Thank you

Hi Monello, I know that GTL and GTR2 can give out more information (e.g. with XD Tool or SimView). Just check my post "some more indicators on GTR2 ..." on the second page of posts. There I asked Christiano to implement this. I hope it comes with the next version, that's what he said .... ;D

When testing the segment displays 4-3 and 1 gear they test fine. But in game they are gibberish. Not lighting up completely and displaying wha looks like random info? Could I still have it wired wrong or what am I missing?
Agh..jsut figured out. Got wires crossed...on all the displays. Whoops.
Also does anyone know where you can get longer Jumper wires? Like 24 to 30 inches. Had to splice a boatload of wires. No fun.
