Hello.
This is the link for downloading the beta version of SimDash 1.3.6:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3544050/SimDash.1.3.6.Beta.zip
If anybody tests it, please let me know if you find problems so I can fix them before the final release.
The main features of this release are:
- Profiles. you can have up to 10 profiles in the application and all the settings for the games, displays and so on belong to the current profile. If you change profile you automagically load the settings associated with that profile. if it is the first time you use a profile, you get the default settings. This is useful for example if you had different settings for the shift light, depending on the car you drive in the simulator. I haven't written the documentation for this feature yet, but I think it is self explanatory. You access the profiles list from the application menu (View->Profiles...)
- I have expanded the configuration settings for the blinking of LEDs connected to the DLC-247 or Pro Shift. Basically now you can set the value at which the LEDs turn ON and the values at which they blink slowly, at normal speed or fast. Until SimDash 1.3.5 instead the LEDs blinked all the time or never.
- rFactor 2 now is supported. Bare in mind that there must be a bug in the game because when I start a session SimDah start receiving the data after 7-10 seconds. I will investigate this but I am sure it is down to the game. The plugin must be configured in SimDash.
- Nascar Racing 2003 should work with SimDash now. Latest patch is required. SimDash must be started BEFORE the game and if you restart SimDash when Nascar is running, it won't work. you have to close the game, start SimDash and then start Nascar.
- Kart Racing Pro is supported. Only the registered version works, not the demo. Simple configuration needed.
- I fixed some small bugs, like Fuel% in IRacing.
This should be everything if I haven't forgotten anything.
Thanks
Cristiano

Hey Christiano,
Thanks for the quick rFactor2 support, nice job!
I,ve downloaded the 1.3.6 beta version, but I can't find the option for the diffrent blinking configuration of the LEDs.
For example, I want to use one LED, which is blinking slowly when the oil-temp is above 110°C, and blinking fast when the oil-temp is above 115°C. Is that still not possible?
EDIT: Okay, I found it, problem solved! Man I can't wait to finish my dash...
Thank You, BaumGT
-
It is possible now.do you have the pro sfift or the dlc-247?
I will send you a couple of screenshot.
Regards
-
I have the DLC-247.
Just looked in the configuration screen but couldn't find it in first place, but now it's totally clear, thank you for your help anyways.
Haven't tested it yet because I'm still planning my build, layout, wiring and configuration, but I guess it will work perfectly.
Again, thanks for your quick response, you're doing a great job!

The delay in the telemetry is a known rF2 issue, not simdash ;)
-
Hmmmm cant get it working with rF2 at the moment???
Plugin is installed in the rF2 plugin folder, simdash see's rF2 when it fires up, but no telemetry is being sent.

can you check the folder:
C:\Program Files (x86)\rFactor2\Plugins
contains the file rFactor2Proxy.dll ?
did you wait ~10 secs since the start of the session?
-
yes its in the folder and I did about a bout 2 laps each test....so waited about 3 mins.
I have manualy installed the plugin too..still no luck and re-installed simdash too
Strange??
-
removed and re-installed again from a fresh download, its still not working, but I did notice a just for a split second, a few flashes of data on the simscreen, but only for a tenth of a second. That happened about 7-10 seconds into the session...
-
Works great, thanks for the profiles, they are a big help. But could you please make the application window remember its last position? I don't know anything but that shouldn't be very hard ;)
Thanks for you work Cristiano.

The settings should be saved when you close the application.
Sorry for the silly question, how do you close SimDash?
Thanks

I have just realized that if you reduce SimDash to the Systray, then right click the icon e choose "Exis", the settings are not saved.
Is this your case?

I noticed the settings dont save. so I tried to export the profile and then click file->exit and it still does not save.
Also, the profile I exported did not contain settings for all my boards (gi-max, pro shift, simscreen and spi-d)

Are the settings kept if you go back to the configuration screens, without closing the application?

I am trying to reproduce the problem with the settings not being saved, but I can't.
Please, can anybody experiencing the problem tell me exactly what they do, what simulators/hardware they try to configure so I can look for something more specific?
Thank you

the settings stuck until I exit the app.
I have had it running for hours now, and am about to go to sleep.
I just closed simdash (using the x in the top corner) just now, went to the forum to see if there were any comments about his.
When I started simdash again my settings were still there :)
I dont know what caused it. the only difference I can think of is that teamspeak, x-sim profiler and x-sim sender were not running now.
They probably were running the last time, when I had the problem with settings disappearing. I dont see how that could influence simdash though.
and one more difference - now I have not messed with profiles. last time, when the settings were missing, I had renamed profile 1 to iracing and saved it. I had also tried rfactor2 just before I noticed the problem.
Now the profile is called "profile 1" and I havent messed with it at all.

Yes exactly in ver 1.3.5 the settings were always saved/restarted. imade a profile ans exported it. but now i always have to load it after startup. maybe there will be a possibility to autoload last profile again.

Thank you for testing the profiles.
I have made some changes to the beta:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3544050/SimDash.1.3.6.Beta.zip
and it would be great if it was tested.
If still the settings are not saved when the application is closed, I have added an option to the menu to force the saving of the settings, before you close the application (File->Save settings).
The option is just temporary but it will help me to understand where the problem is.
So please if it doesn't save automatically, use the menu option and tell me if it works.
thnak you

Thanks for fixing the iRacing Fuel % issue!!!

hi,
the save settings function works well for me.
I imported my profile (using GI Max, SPI-D, ProShift and Simscreen).
I choosed save settings.
After restarting, all settings from profile 1 were load again.
Good work.

And if you don't save using the menu option but leave SimDash save the settings when you close the application, dows it work?

Thanks for the updates. I think you should add the option of dont blink to the option of different blink stages. Like for example, when making a shift array, they dont blink. Mine is set so that when they reach 95% RPM they are all turned on and when they reach 99% RPM another light turns on.It would be nice to have all of them blink when they get to 99% RPM.

I think you can do that.
If you open the DLC-247 configuration dialog and inport the attached file, I have configured a LED to turn on when RPM% is 95 and then it starts blinking fast when RPM% is 99.
I think that is what you would like to do.

same thing.

thank you
It saved everthing ok.

It worked. They lit progressively and then all blink fast when they reach 99%. However, I also have them to blink normal when the RPM reaches 0 and they are not blinking. Also the fuel % is not working properly. Its always on when I have to lit when the fuel remaining is 10%. The games that I'm playing are RACE 07 and rFactor.

thanks.
I will try it Sunday because tomorrow I will be away.
However I quickly checked your configuration and I can see the LED AUX 1 is configured to turn on when fuel % <= 1 and not to blink.
Instead I have to check the RPM% LEDs because the configuration seems correct. I will let you know.

The fuel light is set to turn on, not to blink. Sorry for the misunderstanding. Still, why is it always on?

I have tested your configuration file. Regarding the RPM%, consider LED1 for example.
it is configured for turning ON when RPM% is >= 87.
Fine. Then you configured the blinking in this way:
Blink fast when RPM% > 99
Blink normal when RPM% < 1.
but when RPM% < 1 the LED is off because it was configured to be on (blinking or not) when RPM% >= 87.
So you can't do what you want to. I agree this is confusing and can be improved and it will in the future.
Regarding Fuel%: check what games support Fuel%:
http://www.symprojects.com/go/simdata
You can see rFactor and Race07 don't support the value. for them the value is always 0 and this is the reason the LED is ON for you.

I installed this as the profile thing sounds perfect from a flexiblity pov.
But upgrading ended up wiping out my 1.3.5 configs, that dir is now empty. I don't see them stored anywhere particularly, have I just lost them. I can just redo them and I'll have to be careful export them first next time but if they can be recovered somehow/somewhere let me know.
Thx

I downgraded back to 1.3.5 as 1.3.6 is just not saving my settings, even if go choose save in the menu.
So I uninstalled 1.3.6 and reinstalled 1.3.5 and also got my settings back, still don't know where they are stored though.
Thanks

The settings are stored by Windows in a folder which isn't the installation folder. And they are marked with the version of the application that created them.
So you are saying the settings are not loaded or saved properly in SimDash 1.3.6?
-
Love the new beta... lot of excellent features..
In Pro-Shift RFACTOR 2 caution light is yellow all the time, regardless of yellow on track.. In data feed it shows as yellow on all the time.. It turns on as soon as data feed starts, and does not turn off.. have i missed a setting?

They weren't for me no, in he initial menu I even chose the file > save thing, closed simdash, started it again and it simply had not saved my settings.
What's the path of this folder so I can try again and verify what happens there, maybe it was a fluke at my end.
Thx

Definitely it's not your fault. Other people got the same problem with the settings not saved.
The folder where they are saved is something like:
C:\Users\YOUR-USERNAME-HERE\AppData\Local\SymProjects.com\SimDash.exe_Url_hyku0ikynqyqvbvy4fepqlziksts1zuv
this is with Windows 7.

:( Another 'Save' profile bug in v1.3.6 - LEDs Blinking based on data value DLC-247 :(
Unable to Export Profile if LEDs are set to use the blinking based on data value. Pop window describes as "Error exporting settings".
Works fine using the options "Don't blink", "Blink slow speed", Blink medium speed" and "Blink fast", these all export as they should. It is only when the option to use "Based on data value" is selected.
You can set the "Based on data value" and it works within the game it is just when you try and save the profile the error arises.
Also, once you have tried to use the "based on data value" and then change it back to say "Blink medium speed" it will still report as an error exporting settings when you try and save profile. If you then try and 'Import' previously saved working profile it also gives "Erro importing settings".
The only way around all of this is to exit SimDash completely. Reload SimDash and at this point all profiles are empty :'(. Import Profile(s) 1 to 10 from previously saved working profiles and then do not use blinking based on data value.
-
The Profile additions are a great addition to SimDash ;D and it would be great to have sub profiles under the main 10 Profiles.
For example you could set up a main profile for Race07 and then have sub profiles for the different car setups as using a digital rev counter requires different red line notification depending on which car you drive.
Either that or we will need more than 10 profiles on the main menu to select from rather then keep importing saved profile xml files.
-
Would also be helpful to have the name of the Profile shown at the top of the
1. Main Setup Screen ie SimDash becomes "SimDash - %Profile1%" say "SimDash - Race07 ~ Mini Cooper" and/or
2. Configuration setup screen rather than just the device ID. to become ie. "Device ID:999 - Race07 ~ Mini Cooper"

Is it possible to add this for SPI-D in the next version?

I am afraid it will implemented in version 1.3.7
SimDash 1.3.6 will be released as soon as the existing bugs will be fixed.

Hello!
I bought the dlc247 and use it to rfactor and rfactor2.
I'm planning the number of displays and I doubt from the "split time" function. What time indicating the best split or self split? You can know if the split is positive or negative?
Thanks and sorry for my bad english...
-
I received my DLC247 yesterday and today I finishes my "screen", the DLC is awesome :)
But I tried to use different blink options on fuel levels which seems to does not work :/
I tried to use it as Rev Counter which blinks if it exceeds a defined value, that works, but on fuel level it doesn't blink?
I noticed that if you have 1% fuel (in Life for speed), simdash displays 100%, 2% => 200% and so on, has that something to do with that?

If I remember correctly the split time in rFactor is the time it took to complete each sector.
for example it display 10".000 when you complete the first sector of a lap, then 20".000 when you complete the following sector and when you complete the lap it show the lap time.

Hello.
I have to test the problem with LfS and if there is a bug I will fix it before next release, which is due soon.
but from a quick check of the LfS plugin I can see that 2% of fuel is displayed as 200%. so I think you are correct, there is an error.
I will fix it.
Thanks.

Those lights should work with rFactor 1 but, if I remember correctly, they don't work with rFactor 2.

Basically you have to edit a .prl file and change this line:
Write Shared Memory="0"

Could you send me your DLC-247 configuration file please? So I can reproduce your exact situation...

Have you done the tests using Lfs?

yes
No you can't drive a fuel/temperature gauge with the rev burner.
But as I said some months ago I have been working on a controller that will do that.
I will have a protorype built soon so hopefully will take only few months to be ready.

Could you send me your DLC-247 configuration file please? So I can reproduce your exact situation...
You can save the DLC-247 configuration clicking "Export..." in the DLC-247 configuration screen.
Have you done the tests using Lfs?
Thank you
Cristiano
I tested it in LFS, here is the XML :)

The fuel LED doesn't blink because it is not configured correctly.
The LED blinks when the blink condition is TRUE and also the condition for which the LED is turned ON but be TRUE.
If you consider LED A in your configuration: LED A is configured to be turned ON when FUEL % is >= 5.6 and in the blinking settings it is set to blink SLOWLY when Fuel % is between 5.2 and 5.6
But when Fuel % is between 5.2 and 5.6 the LEDs is OFF, so it doesnt blink.
PRobably what you want is:
LED ON when Fuel % is >= 5.2
Blink SLOW ON when Fuel % is between 5.2 and 5.6
This way the LED blinks when value between 5.2 and 5.6 and stop blinking (but the LED is still ON) when Fuel % is > 5.6
if you want I can send you the modified configuration file.

Cristiano

I'm doing my first tests with dlc247 and rfactor 1 and 2. Do not work the pit request, speed limiter, full beam and ignition lights, is a beta error?? The other functions are working properly.
Sorry for my english.
In the 1.3.6 version those lights still not working. In rFactor2 the yellow flag light is always on.
