Hi,
I recently purchased a Simscreen and what a game changer that little beauty is!! I can visualise my fuel load now and as I drive endurance races in iRacing mainly, it has been invaluable.
Anyway, in last weeks new build, telemetry is now being output for brake bias and front and rear anti-roll bar settings. I drive the Ford Falcon V8 and these are adjustable in-car during the race. Is it possible to have this info available for Simscreen to display at some point in the future.
Thanks in advance and keep making us smile with these toys :)

Hello.
I have added your request to the list of new features to add to SimDash.
If IRacing is outputing these values I think it won't be a problem to add them to the SImScreen.

Cristiano

Hi Christiano,
Many thanks.
Andrew
-
Awesome news I also was keen to have these values available :)
-
Any chance of seeing these features anytime soon?
-
I think it is possible because next version is due in a couple of weeks and I have a couple of days available so I can investigate if I can do that.
If the data is really available in the telemetry, I am not expecing any problem

Awesome, this is my #1 wanted feature (and fuel estimation etc). Thanks Cristiano!

I have check the new telemetry but I can't find anything about brake bias and anti-roll bar info.
Does anybody have a link or anything I can check?
thank you
-
Christiano,
Thanks for looking into this. In Motec i2 (using Mu Exporter to extract the telemetry from iRacing) the data read is titled;
dcAntiRollFront
dcAntiRollRear
dcBrakeBias
The values are definitely being output as I have solid data from the last few races. I can see where I have changed these settings in the race.
Thanks again :)

Iracing has two set of APIs: one is available in realtime and that's what SimDash and other similar softwares use.
Other data is saved on the disk during the race and can be analysed later on, using a telemetry software.
I thing the data you are looking for belongs to the second type: is saved on the disk and is available for analysis, but not in real time.

iRDDU pushes it out live, and David Tucker from iR said its also available live (apparently).
I am logging that information to telemetry, both in real time and into the .ibt files so you can analyze it later in ATLAS.
The variables are named: dcBrakeBias, dcAntiRollFront, and dcAntiRollRear.

Hello.
If the text you have quoted is from the IRacing forum, could you please send me a link to the thread?
Thank you

Hey Cristiano,
That was from a PM from David Tucker, did you need some more specific info about it?

Hey Cristiano,

It's because I can't find that data in the live telemetry.
I have found this page:
http://www.iracing.com/inracingnews/iracing-news/release-notes-for-2012-season-3
where they say:
Telemetry
- Log pit stop and in car adjustments to telemetry (dcBrakeBias, etc).
- Turn on shock deflection to live telemetry (LFshockVel, etc).
from that page it looks like LFshockVel is in the live telemetry (and I can see it) but dcBrakeBias is not.
Are you in contact with David Tucker? maybe you could ask him to clarify. Otherwise I can try to PM him.
Thanks
Cristiano

Might be easier if you PM him as I don't know what I'm talking about :)

So apparently those values are available when you load a car that supports those features.
Can you tell me what car you drive when you see those values in iRDDU?
Thank you

V8 Supercar for me, but a lot of cars have that data I believe.

Any updates with this?

Any updates with this?
I am going to create a test version of Simdash that support those values.
Are you available to test it? Because I can't...
Thank you
Cristiano

Hi Christiano,
I can test it out when I get a free moment.
Andrew

More than happy to test it.

I shoud have it tomorrow

I have put together this test version of SimDash:
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/3544050/SimDashTest.rar
it reads brake bias and front/rear anti roll bar settings.
Ideally you should have the simscreen to test this values, but if you haven't you can use the SimScreen Editor, while SimDash is running in the background.
In particular, I would like to know if anti roll bar settings works and if displayed data makes sense.
Thank you
Cristiano

Ok I tested a fair few cars. It works pretty well as it is, however the antiroll bars only need to be 1 digit instead of 3.
The brake bias works well too, it shows 4 digits which is fine (2 decimal places).
One issue though is with the Lotus 79, it shows its brake bias like
soft - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 - firm
this appears like so in the Simscreen
000 - 100 - 200 - 300 - 400 - 500 - 600
It not that big of a deal really, but it might get confusing when the screen shows 2 and the SimScreen shows 1 (100).
Thanks for this Cristiano :D
-
So, if I understand correctly:
- antiroll bars: I have to remove the last 2 digits.
What's the range of the values you get? is it 0-100?
- brake bias: from the IRacing documentation, this is supposed to be from 0 to 100, but I can see it is not.
(Lotus 79). If you exclude the Lotus 79, what are the typical values?
Thank you
Cristiano

Hey Cristiano,
Typically the values go from 100 - 600, but some can go from 000 - 600. You only need to display the first digit, ie 0 - 6. So far I think only the L79 can show 000 (soft). I did not test any oval cars but I can if required.
Brake Bias is showing four digits, eg 57.50% brake bias is displayed as 5750 which is fine. On some cars however they start at 0, and move forward and backward showing -25 and 25 (-0.25% and 0.25%).
I can take some screenshots if it would help make things clearer, just let me know.
-
Sorry, I mean the range in iRacing is only 1-6 or Soft - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 - Hard
-
I have made some changes:
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/3544050/SimDash.rar
Does it look better now?
Thank you
-
Hey Cristiano,
Looks better yes, except now the Brake Bias seems to be rounding up to the nearest full number instead of showing the two decimal places (which is required as generally it moves in 0.25% increments). The Front and Rear Antiroll Bars now shows the single digit which works fine (excluding the Lotus which is still showing 0 for soft and throwing the rest out by 1). I have attached some pictures to demonstrate.

Is it correct now?

Great! It might be better off showing the brake bias as all 4 digits instead of removing the trailing 0s. Eg it now shows 62, 62.25, 62.5. It'd be better if it was 62.00, 62.25, 62.50 etc.
The Lotus still shows bars out by 1 but thats not a huge deal I dont think. Not much you could really do unless it was possible to offset by 1 the value based on the car you're in.
Thanks!

Hello.
If you want Brake Bias to be displayed with two decimal figures, you have to change (in the SimScreen editor) the "Format" property to:
{0:0.00}
I am going to update SimDash with these changes and some bug fixing.
Thank you for the time spent testing this stuff.
Actually, I think I have found other values for IRacing but for a series of reasons I can't test them easily.
Would you like to help?
Cheers

Bump :) I noticed this isnt in the official release yet.
Sorry for delay.
I have a quite long list of updates I have to do, including new data values for IRacing.
At the moment I am spending all the available time to complete the software for the new controller (rev burner type controller). After that, I will implemented all the things I have promised to do but I haven't done yet.
thanks

No problem, thanks!
Any chance I could get a hold of that beta release again like is linked above? ;)

Christiano ... bit of a thread hijack here but could that data (brake bias, roll bar settings) be integrated into the DLC-248 as well? I would LOVE to be able to display brake bias especially (referring specifically to iRacing here). Thanks for considering!
And many thanks for the work you have already done. :)
-
I will definitely do it.
Now that the Pro-Gauge controller is finished I will have more time to do these small improvements.
Regards
-
That will be great... thanks!!!

Hi Christiano... just a reminder that this would be great to have... especially for cars like the Lotus 79 in iRacing. :)

it's going to be included in the next version of SImDash,
