Title: REV BURNER
Post by: ramok on November 01, 2012, 05:34:48 pm
Can anyone tell me how to set the rev burner exactly. I do not understand those% and PPM.
I have rev-counter up to 11,000 RPM for the game RACE07 ......
sorry  google translate.
Regards
Jure

first connect the tachometer to the rev burner.

Now open the rev burner configuration screen in SimDash.
Look at the firm trackbar, the one near the label "3%".

Move the trackbar until your tachometer displays 3% of its max value, that is 3% of 11.000, which is 330rpm

now consider the 5% trackbar. move it until the tachometer displays 5% of its max value, that is 5% of 11.000 = 550rpm

keep going, do all the trackbars.

the last think to do is to set the "Max RPM value is:" combobox to 11.000

For 100% value must be 11000 and tachometer must be on 11000 rpm. My tachometer on 100 % and 11000 displays 7500 rpm

don't look at the numbers near the trackbar. they are not RPM, they are pulses per second.

Just keep moving the trackbar until the tachometer displays the correct value

For 100% value must be 11000 and tachometer must be on 11000 rpm. My tachometer on 100 % and 11000 displays 7500 rpm

I have this problem, too. If I set the Max RPM Value to 11000 (I have an 11000 rpm tach), and I set the 100% value slider all the way to the right, my tach reads around 9000 rpm (I can't remember the exact value). Do I need to change the number of cylinders my tach expects? There's a setting on the tach to select 4, 6 or 8 cylinders.

The most desirable setting is always 4 cylinders. This requires the least pulses per second produced by the RevBurner.

If it's not set to 4 already, that could be the reason why you're not getting the full RPM range on your tach.

Hello.
Is the Rev Burner properly detected by SimDash? You should get a green light in SimDash, instead of red.

yes it is hooked. Its also showing a green light connected in my sim dash but it will not let me put the IRacing icon in the simulator slot. It only puts x-sim in there and when i configure it no matter what max RPM i set it as, the needle will not move over 2000. Please call me if you or someone has time to help me figure out what i am doing wrong. 601-573-8989. Thank you very much.

Right, the problem is that you have enabled the X-Sim plugin.
You only do that if you use SimDash and X-Sim together.

Do you use X-Sim? if the answer is no or you don't know X-Sim then you don't need the X-Sim plugin

In this case, in SimDash, use the menu X-Sim -> Enable plugin

Now the icon in SimDash should display IRacing, when the simulator is running

I think it is a bit slow, but there is not much you can do to change it.

Is this thread relevant for you:

hey, i am not using x-sim. i do not have x-sim plug-in enabled. i am also running iracing and it will not put the iracing icon in the box. it says no simulator. could it be a bad board or is there something im missing or not doing.

Do you have the latest version of SimDash (1.4.1)

Because the latest IRacing update doesn't work with previous versions.

UPDATE! Christiano. i got my tach needle moving on iracing. but will not move past 2000. ive clipped the wires behind the tach for 4 cylinder. seems to be helping, still will not let me set it up in simdash to 10,000 or even 8,000. the sliders will not move the tach past 2,000. what should i do? :-\

Hello.
There is not much you have to do.
If you have configured the tacho to work with 4-cylinders and connected correctly to the rev burner, you should be able to push the needle up to 10.000 rpm, when you change the settings in the rev burner configuration screen.

If does not do that, I think there is something not working correctly.
I can replace your rev burner if you think it could be the problem, but I tell you it's very unlikely. Or it could be a problem with the tachomter.

can you get it replaced? what tacho is it?
