Hi MrW :)

We reckon to 'bin' about 25% of the Type R tachs as being below our performance limits AFTER we have done the 'pot' mod. Its a case of luck as to getting a good or bad unit :(  We only use units that have good needle speed and have a high RPM set for the shiflight.

Trouble is, they are the best around for a reasonable cost, anything much better costs at least x3 the price....

Hi

They both look to be Mechanical driven (the tach deffo is as it has 1:4 ratio on it) They both wont be suitable for RevBurners as they need to be Electronic.

A quick pic of our lastest Item :)

The 'Monsta' is almost a foot long, makes use of 2 Pro Shift Boards and one of our special 'custom modified' GI-Pro boards to drive a 1" BLUE 7 Seg LED. This unit will be available as a kit soon including the modded SLI-Pro and Blue Display. Just add two pro Shifts and get wiring it up :)

General Discussions / Re: Problem with the Type-R rev meter.
« on: May 14, 2011, 09:37:29 am »
Hi

I have used a few of these rev counters. The problem is that the dampening springs can vary a little in tension/strength, causing the needle to move a little slower than might be liked. However, a lesser dampened needle will 'waver' and wobble too much!
The only real soloution is to use a MUCH more exspensive Tachometer, but in actual use the Type R is fine and has proved to be reliable also. Its only really noticable in when free revving the engine in neutral, when accelerating in gear, the revs rise slower, giving the needle more time to move :)  They often improve with use also as the springs 'ease' a little too.

Hope that helps :)
