Working well - no hangs yet.

One issue though: It doesn't remember the settings, so I have to reconfigure every time I start it.
Importing dlc247 settings works, which saves me a lot of time,
but importing other settings fails - so I have to re-do the Pro Gauge, GI-max, SimScreen, SPI-D settings every time.

Edit: never mind that, found the solution here:
http://www.symprojects.com/forum/index.php?topic=558.msg4484#msg4484

my pro gauge had gotten an invalid serial #. It now now has serial # 202 and all is OK again :)

Hi,

It hangs a lot less often after I reported the problem - but today I got the first "orange lights" again.
I had forgotten to connect the network cable before booting, and when simdash had started it had just an orange light or two - nothing was detected properly.
I saved the log, killed the simdash process, connected to the network, and started simdash again. And everything is back to normal.

The log is attached. Hope it makes sense :)

I have switched to wired network after reporting the problem, maybe this is all network related?

Windows 7, iracing 64 bit. DLC-247, GI-max, pro gauge w/4 gauges and a tachometer, spi-d, simscreen.
I'm using several other apps that also use the iracing SDK (Ispeed, SimXperience Sim Commander, TradingPaints).
All the Symprojects stuff are connected through powered usb hubs or directly to the PC.

Sometimes simdash has just "orange lights" and doesn't work. If I kill the process and restart it, the lights turn green and it starts working again.

It used to happen just after boot (before starting anything iracing).
It can also happen when I exit a session and start a new one a bit later.
It never happens in the middle of an iracing session - which is why I haven't reported it until now. :)

I really have no reliable way of reproducing the problem.

It's been like this for a long time, I just haven't bothered reporting it.

I know this is a rather vague error report, so I don't expect a solution, but is there anything I can do to help debug such problems?
(I remember there was some setting in the config file a long time ago, that enabled logging,  is that still possible?)

I think the DLC-247 can't do 12V.

You could do it by using a transistor and a resistor to make a switch, and a separate power supply for the LEDs I guess:

I like having a clock on my rig. Can you add the time to the selectable values on the dlc-247?
(I display the time on my simscreen already, so no hurry.  :))

General Discussions / Thank you (DLC247, Pro Gauge, JC-32)
« on: November 24, 2013, 01:31:48 am »
Thanks again for making these simracing gadgets - they are great.

Have connected a tachometer (cheap, it's very slow, can't be opened so there's nothing to adjust)
and oil/water temp gauges (also cheap, and I haven't managed to configure them so that they show the correct values throughout the range.)

A couple of questions about the pro gauge/tachometers:
My tachometer has 3 settings (4,6 and 8 cylinders, iirc). Does this setting matter to the Pro Gauge board? I tried them all briefly but didn't notice much difference.

And about the DLC247: great board, have used it to make a 40 LED rev indicator and a little box with flag indicators. Waiting for some cheap 7-seg displays from ebay :) Love this board :)

I've also replaced all my old button boxes with home made purpose built boxes. Loads of rotary encoders and buttons.  2 JC32 boards are almost "full" :) This brings me down to 4 game controllers, and enables me to play just about any game without disconnecting usb devices (many games only see 4 controllers or so).

I'd attach pictures if you accepted larger attachments ;)

Hi, can I use two of the jc32 controller at the same time?

And what does the serial number field (in the config app) do?

Thanks,

General Discussions / How much load can I put on the JC 32?
« on: October 18, 2013, 08:57:46 pm »
I'm currently playing with a few fans. Since the JC-32 was the easiest way to get +5v on my rig I connected a couple of (0.24A) fans to it. The fans are still running but it's probably not a good idea to draw too much power from this +5v output. So I decided to ask:

how much load can I put on it?

Thanks,

Bredo

Great,

That will be very interesting - I look forward to trying it :)

(I'm a bit slow these days, sorry for the late responses)

Any language that can speak with the iracing api would be good.
The only iracing api thing I have played with was written in C# but what I am planning to do is not too complicated so I am sure I can adapt to any language.

This will be very nice to have for the pro shift as well :)

Hi,

I want to make a shift indicator (GI Max flashing) with different shift points for each car/each gear, for use in iRacing.
I understand this is a lot of work to add to the simdash application, and I would be happy to write my own little tool that does this.
Is there a way I can make the GI Max flash - from my own application?

(I also have the pro shift and the SPI-D and it would also be interesting to be able to switch on an LED on the pro shift or the SPI-D's shift light from my own app).
