DLC-247 config
« on: November 30, 2013, 09:30:49 am »
Hi, I would like to run x3 6 digit displays, x3 3 digit displays, x1 single digit display and 16 single LED's,
I was already running x1 single digit, x1 3 digit and 16 single LED's no problem with one DLC board,
I then purchased the extra displays and also x3 pin splitters giving me x6 connectors, thinking that I could connect x3 6 digits to 3 connections, x1 3 digit and 8 single LED's to 1 connection, x1 3 digit and x1 single digit to another connection and lastly  x1 3 digit and the remaining 8 single LED's to connection no:6,
I have had no luck getting it to run as I am sure you have guessed by now, clearly I am misunderstanding how the splitters work so could anyone tell me if I need more hardware (another DLC board) or how I would go about connecting this all to my existing hardware.

Plans for displays are:
x1 3 digit for Fuel
x1 3 digit for laps
x1 3 digit for race position
x1 6 digit for current lap time
x1 6 digit for gap to next position
x1 6 digit for gap to previous position
x1 single digit for gear display
x16 single LED's for warnings and flags ( I had these working fine with 8 daisy chained so x2 sets of 8 = 16 )

Many thanks in advance ;)

I think I may have sussed it:

I have x1 splitter connected to channel A, in that splitter I have connected x1 3 digit and 8 Led's (row1), plus x1 single digit and x8 Led's (row2)
x1 splitter connected to channel B, which has x1 3 digit connected to 1-8 (row1) and x1  3 digit connected to 9-16 (row2) leaving room for future led's or single digits in both rows.
x1 splitter connected to channel C, which has x1 6 digit in row 1 and room left in row 2 for future led's

Thus leaving me with x1 spare splitter and the need to purchase x1 more DLC board for the remaining x2 6 digit displays.

Is the the most efficient way to deal with it or has anyone got any better solutions ??

Cheers,

Nick.

you will need another dlc 24, you have 27 displays plus leds.  I have a dlc 247 display as well and I was able to configure 2 6 digit displays, 3 3 digit displays  1 2 digit display( a 3 digit but only using 2 digits)  and 8 leds.

I had to buy different displays than the ones supplied by symprojects for 2 of the 3 digit displays because of how the symproject displays are configured. The ones I bought had a separate pin for each led display segment. (8 plus ground)   I had to hook up 27 wires for each 3 digit display.. and wire some of the digits within the 3 digit display to different channels

lots of wires.
