Simdash and Ihud Problem.
« on: July 29, 2012, 10:19:54 pm »
im not sure if anyone has seen the app for iphones and IOS devices, its called Ihud for LFS by mighteygate.
http://www.mightygate.com/en/hud-for-lfs/ (sorry if its classes as advertisiing this is not what im inteding to do)

itis a nifty little app if you dont have gauges etc etc, i currently want to use it along side my revburners so i can get the fuel% tire temps engine temps etc showing on my ios device. here the instlall guide
http://www.mightygate.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/iHUDforLFS_Install_Manual.pdf

the problem im running into is that Ihud requires me to change the outgauge ID to 0, once ive done this simdash dosnt work. Simdash recognises that LFS is open but it dosnt seem to output the data, as my clocks dont move.

so its either one or the other at the minuete, i currently use LFSPS too asa proxy as i use multiple outgauge apps and that cannot get around it either

so im wondering if christiano would be able to shed some light on the situation as it would give me the digital dash along side my revburners that im after.

EDIT:... Upon further investigation it apperas that the outgage ID is not the problem, its related to the Ip or port i think, as i have to enter the ip of my ios device in the LFS cfg. i also have to specify and insim port for Ihud. i have no idea aabout how to get theses working in succsession

it also seems i cannot change the IP within simdash, i can change the port but that is all, im starting to wonder if its at all possible to use these 2 together.

if christiano could look into this it would be much appriciated.

I think the problem is that LfS sends data to only one external application, so in general you can't use SimDash and Ihud at the same time.

But if you use LFSPS, you should be able to make everything work together.
LFSPS is a data proxy that receives data from LfS and dispatches a copy of that data to SimDash and Ihud.

In LfS config file you don't have to set the Ihud IP address, but instead use 127.0.0.1 and the port used by LFSPS  to receive data.

Then LFSPS will be configured to send a copy of the received data to Ihud (use Ihud IP and port number) and to SimDash (use 127.0.0.1 and port number configured in SimDash).

I haven't use LFSPS so I don't know the details for its configuration but if you have problems I can look into it.

Regards
Cristiano

thank for the reply chrisitiano, ive managed to get simdash working and get ihud to connect as such, but ihud stil dosnt seem to do anything when running along side simdash :(...it seems simple and straight forward.

one thing i did notice when i have ihud running and working is that when it connect to lfs i get a message about a TCP:Ihud or somthing in lfs.

im not sure what to do from here to be honest so if you could look into it would be much appriciated thanks.

hello.

could you post all the configuration files please?
I mean Lfs config file, Ihud IP and port numbers, LFSPS config file, port number used in SImDash.
Everything so I can test it.

Thank you

certainly can christiano.

my LFS config for outgage is as follows

OutGauge Mode 1
OutGauge Delay 1
OutGauge IP 127.0.0.1
OutGauge Port 33333
OutGauge ID 0

LFSPS config file
#####################################################################

# LFSPS - Live For Speed Proxy Server
# (c)2009-2010 by EK - All Rights Reserved.

#########################  LFS  ############################

# LFS Outgauge (same as in cfg.txt file in LFS directory)
LFSOutGaugePort = 33333
# Host IP
Host = 127.0.0.1

# UDP Outgauge port list (list of all UDP port using LFS Outgauge - devices or applications)
# 30001 default BU0710 outgauge UDP port
# 30002 default SLI-M outgauge UDP port
# 30003 default SLI-PRO outgauge UDP port
# Sample UDP port used by other devices or addons apps:
#  4124 X-SIM outgauge UDP port
# 35555 CarSoundRemix (CSR) outgauge UDP port
# 4000 ipod app
# 4711 simdash
# 3999 vlfsdash
# 10984 ihud
# see the config file of each registered devices or apps for more details
#
OutGaugeProxyPort = 10984,4711,4124,30001,30002,30003,35555,4000,3999,

this is the Portnumber used in Simdash = 4711

this is the insallation of Ihud taken directly from there site. should you need to acces the installation notes please vist there link at
http://www.mightygate.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/iHUDforLFS_Install_Manual.pdf

2. Step   2.   Setting   cfg.txt
Go to LFS installation folder.   *see   step   1 for   its usual location.
There   must   be a file called cfg.txt.   Open   it, search the following   lines and set them like below:
• OutGauge   Mode   1
• OutGauge   Delay   1
• OutGauge   IP   [The   IP of   your   IOS   device]   *see   below"
• OutGauge   Port   10984
• OutGauge   ID   0
*To   know   the   IP   of   your   IOS   device   do   the   following   ON   IT:
1. Enter the Settings menu.
2. On   the left menu, enter the Wi-Fi submenu.
3. On   the list of   available networks (below “Choose a   Network”)   there   must   be one of them   that   is ticked.
Touch the arrow   to the right.
4. The IP you are   searching for is to the right of the “IP Address”   label.

3. Step 3. Changing LFS   shortcut   for   automatically   InSim   start

Search the   shortcut you use   when   opening the   game   (usually placed on Desktop).   Do right-click on   the   shortcut   and
do click on   Properties.   From   all the tabs, select the   one   named “Shortcut”.  On   the   field   â€œTarget”   there   must   be
something   like   â€œ[some directories depending   on   your   folder   installation]\LFS.exe”.   You   must   change it to
“[some directories depending   on   your   folder   installation]\LFS.exe/insim=10983”.   Note   that   â€œinsim  ispreceded by   a   slash,
not   a  backslash. Make sure   that   when   you   start   the   game, you   do so   by clicking   on   the   shortcut   or   it   won’t   work.
If  you cannot find  how  to do the   shortcut setting,   you   can   start   InSim   manually   by   tiping   inside   LFS   â€œ/insim10983”
but you must do   it every time you   start   the game.

The ip of my IOS device which is needed is. 192.168.0.3

as i said before ive had the two connected together and simdash working but ihud didnt seem to responde even though it had the connected symbol. ive tried on numerous occasion with no succes, i hope you find a way.

thanks again christiano.

Thank you for sending the configuration file.
I think the problem is with the way LFSPS works.

Everything is configured correctly and LFSPS sends data to the port numbers listed in this line:

OutGaugeProxyPort = 10984,4711,4124,30001,30002,30003,35555,4000,3999,

The only problem is that iHud has a different IP but LFSPS is sending all the data to the IP 127.0.0.1, whcih is your local computer.

Basically LFSPS should dispatch the data to different IPs: your computer and the iHud's but I think it can't do that.

hi yes thats what i was thinking. is there any way around this?
im not to good with programming or id have a go at making my own version of LFSPS.
do you have any apps that are capable of such a thing?

im wondering if using Ihud along side the xsim plugin would be any different?, but as im not familliar with xsim im not sure on what to do. or where to even start.

thanks again for looking into this christiano.

I don't think using x-sim would make any different.

I think the easiest option is to ask the LFSPS's author to make a change to the application to allow data to be forwared to application running on different IP.
Maybe a donation could help...
