RevBurner: Tach set to 4, 6 or 8 ylinder?
« on: November 20, 2011, 04:29:42 pm »
hi guys,

one little question:
is there any benefit regarding response time, accuracy, durability or whatever
when i set my tach to 4, 6 or 8 cylinders? (with the correct simdash config file of course)?

i have an autometer lying around that can be set for different cylinders by cutting wire-loops.
do i get the same results with these 3 options or is it "faster" if i set it to match a 4 Cylinder car because the revburenr board has to generate less pulses per minute? or is it "slower" because of that? or no difference?

thanks in advance,
Heinrich

Hi.
there are no differences in term of accuracy or response speed.

The only  different is the RPM range. if the tachometer is configured to 4 cylinders, you can display up to 17.000 RPM

if you set the tachometer to 8 cylinder, you can get 8.000 maximum. and for 6 cylinder is something in between.

SO I would choose 4 cylinders.
