Instrument Cluster Help
« on: June 18, 2012, 09:39:06 pm »
Hey guys, maybe someone can help me on this one. I'm building my simulator and I'm using a cluster panel from a '01 vw jetta and I plan to use both, the speedometer and tachometer. But it seems that I won't be able to connect it because it uses a bus/can( I have no idea what that is) system, so I'll have to get my own motors to use it with the revburner. My question is, what kind of motor should I use? I've been doing some research and I think I gotta buy a stepper motor, but I don't know what kind of spec is necessary to make it work (i.e voltage, amp). If anyone can help me on this one, it will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Hello.

I would get the cheaper tachometer available on Ebay and extract the electronics and the motor. I think that is the easiest way.

To replace the speedometer you can get a second rev counter and do the same think. rev counters are more available and cheaper.
