Speedometer Rev Burner
« on: May 12, 2018, 08:38:03 pm »
Hi,

I have been using Rev Burners since 2011.  The rev counter is working fine with my tachometer.   However, my speedometer recently stopped working.  The Windows device listing says something is wrong with the USB device, so I presume the Rev Burner is defective.

I wanted to determine if by reloading the firmware for the speedometer function it might solve the problem.  However, when I went to the website's download section, there is no listing for the "speedometer" firmware.

It has been so long since 2011.  Did I miss something?  Has there been an advancement in the technology so that speedometers are now driven by an updated version of SimDash?  I could not find any related info on the website or on this forum.

Hello.
you can download the firmware here:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/e9wqybiqdp4eqe8/firmware.zip?dl=0

It is the .hex file inside the .zip file.

Let me know if it works.

Hi Cristiano,

Thanks for the hex file.  Did not resolve the problem.

First, I tried to place the revburner in "bootload" mode but the bootloader screen was greyed out.  It never gave me an active button to upload the hex file.

I'm familiar with the firmware loading process of changing the position of the jumper.  So all I can conclude is that the revburner circuit board is damaged.

Unless you have any other suggestions, I might have to buy a Pro-Guage to replace the revburner.

Hello.
I think you are right that something is wrong with the Rev Burner.
Did you remember when you ordered it?

In any case I can replace it, if you send it back.

You can use this email address:   contact@symprojects.com

to arrange the details.

Thanks
Cristiano

Hi Cristiano,

You are so generous with your offer. I purchased the RevBurner approx 2011 and have had very happy results with your product for many years.  You've been very good to this community, and if I accepted your offer I feel that it would be taking advantage of the situation.

I don't mind purchasing a brand-new replacement RevBurner.  Please confirm than the current version of the RevBurner will accept the speedometer hex file.

Thanks.

Hello.
The speedometer hasn't changed in this year and the speedometer firmware will work with the current Rev Burner.

Cristiano
