Rev burner questions
« on: March 15, 2012, 08:47:55 pm »
Hi,
I'm new to this all, maybe you guys can help me with some questions;

-I'm building a cockpit and will be on the lookout for a suitable dash. Are there any special things to look for? (so I'm sure both rev and speedometer are fully supported)
-How much Amps is needed to run a rev/speedometer?
-How can i get the fuel meter working?
-How can i get additional engine function lights working?

Regards,
DaBeast

Hello.
If you want to use a full dashboard is a bit trickier than using an aftermarket rev counter e/o speedometer. the main problem is finding what the connection on the back of the dashboard are.
If you search this forum there are some models other users have used and they also posted the details of the connections. The Alfa Romeo 156 dashboard was used in the past, for example and I am sure there are connections details in the forum.

A 12V 3A power supply usually is enough to power the dashboard and the backlight. that's what I would buy. Search for "12v 3a power supply" on Ebay and you should find some at reasonable prices.

Fuel level gauges are not supported at the moment.

Regarding the lights, you could use ther Pro Shift controller, which drives up to 16 LEDs or the DLC-247 which supports many more and also 7-segment displays. In general the dashboard bulbs won't work with these controllers so you will have to replace the bulbs with LEDs.

Please let me know if you have more questions.

Regards
Cristiano

Hi,
Thanks for your reply. Yes, i just found out how to use the engine lights :P¨. Is DLC-247 an extended version of the Pro shift? Does it use the same, or allmost same software (same supported games)?

To use both rev gauge and speedometer i need to buy 2 rev burners?

Thanks

The software is the same (SimDash) and also the supported games.
The DLC-247 does what the PRo Shift does and more. you have to check the documentation because the way you connect the LEDs to the controller is a bit easier with the Pro Shift, but the DLC-247 is much more powerful.

if you want to drive a rev counter and a speedometer, you need 2 rev burners.
