Rev Burner w/ X-Type need help!
« on: November 24, 2012, 05:25:14 pm »
hi guys
My dad gave me an instrument panel of an Jaguar X-type, I tried to connect but with very poor results.... can anyone help me please? Through Google I found this http://www.jagrepair.com/images/AutoRepairPhotos/x4012002en.pdf the only thing I could get him to do is a vibration of the hands as soon as the power comes...
thanks

The manual you link to suggests the cluster uses CAN bus for speed and RPM signals. Provided this information is correct, you will not be able to use is with the RevBurner.

This is not so much a limitation of the RevBurner itself as it is an issue created by the manufacturer. While CAN has some standards for signalling, different manufacturers use different implementations. Not only that, during production cars are often revised and can have many changes compared to the first one off the line.
None of this information is publicised, making it effectively impossible to emulate without individually reverse engineering each individual car.
