Hello.
Does your Pro-Gauge look like this one:

http://www.symprojects.com/shop/images/598/Pro-Gauge1.jpg

because the one in the picture (that is the latest version) has jumpers that you can move to reduce its sensitivity in situations like yours

no mine, does not have the jumper settings. wow. If only this came out earlier. is that mean I have to re-buy the whole pcb which makes the old one obsolete.

General Discussions / Progauge Fuel Percentage (iracing + SPEK)

Hi Christiano,

The spek fuel level gauge (one with the , E ,1/4,1/2.3/4 F) I have seems to be really jumpy when setting up with the pro-gauge software, I can set up the fuel to get close enough to the mark during setup. and in game , but one little ptoblem is it goes up and down too quick/much

Ie, if I click "up" once (in the fuel level Percentage % setting , the needle would jump 2 strips makes it hard to be accurate.

so while driving, when the fuel hit 50% , the needle will hit 1/2 and little more and 90% needle will hit a bit more than 3/4 , but during less than 9l left. the needle would point to E =Empty and lights starts to blink, is this what everyone is experiencing or it's just my gauge?
can someone confirm that they have the same finding or put their value here please.
thank you

Your the man!!! Thanks for the info. So, what am i looking for inperticular when looking for a rotary encoder? 16 detents? 20 detents? 4 bit or 2 bit? Can i use an illuminated rotary encoder?

no worries :)
16 Dents or 20 dents per revolution all works well, Im not sure if I have seen illuminated encoders before. so I'm not sure if the led from the encoders can be wired into the PCB, it should work, but I can never get the led  of my toggle switch to work properly when switch on so I ended up not wiring it .

most rotary encoder from ebay ( the one with blue base http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/10pcs-12mm-Rotary-Encoder-Switch-with-Keyswitch-New-/110706468028?pt=AU_B_I_Electrical_Test_Equipment&hash=item19c69ea4bc&_uhb=1) a 7mm hole should be enough, but they are a pain to wire because the distance between each pins are very close and they don' t have the best feel. price though can't be beaten

The one from leo bodnar or CTS branded ones, have a much nicer in quality and feel , and the hole size is 9.7mm or 10mm, it's easy to solder and wire, cons: Price.

I used both, the ebay ones are ok for volume chat, spotter, black box etc, but for bias knob , since I want to feel distinct notch each turn in Bias, I used CTS one.

Hi Darren,
Those are all excellent question .
I can only try answering question number 1 for you as I don't have DLC247. the rest (2-7) I am not too sure. what I am certain is this.

1. if the dlc247 have the option for mic mute led (like the caution flag led etc) then YES.
Otherwise, even if you can use the momentary button with LED, there is no way of triggering it to stays on or off like you would a caution light. (I don't have DLC247 so I don't know if the tab, I'll check again tonight and get back to you )

I know it's not much bud, I'll play around the software tonight and hopefully can have better answer
regards,
Marcus

Ah Fantastic, thanks Mike, Thanks Cristiano, looks like im ordering a volt gauge

Almost done

OK im going to change the question a little different, here.
Can anyone here tell me if I get a Proparts SPEK Volt gauge. since the progauge board do not have that option to get Voltage data from the sim, If I wire the gauge's input cable to 12 Volts DC output on the Progague board, will it read 12 volts on the gauge without damaging it please ?
Thank you in advance

Hi Cristiano,
I was wandering when you update the firmware next or next software update. will there be additional daata in the drop down option box to choose from
ie
Water pressure ,
Voltage
Im missing these 2 and Im not sure if iracing or other sims would have these 2 data available so Progauge can also poll them.
thank you

Yup yup. thank you everyone. Yes I wired the white (dimmer) to the 12V and hold the middle and top button for 5 second and then PRess the centre button once to get into the PPR setting. and I changed it to 1000 and works perfectly.

thank you so much. guys. sorry for the late reply. spent 4 hours and didn't realize I have to press the centre button after the 5 second hold. the manual didn't state or I missed it some how. lol

« on: June 27, 2013, 09:38:57 am »
Hi Guys, I have a problem where the Proparts SPEK  11,000 rpm tach, it does not want to go over 8800 rpm, when I set the max rpm in the progauge software,
Do I need to wire the White(dimmer) to the 12V ?
I haven't connected the the white wire (dimmer) only the green to rpm - red to 12V and Black to ground
I've been hearing about changing to 8 cylinder how do I do that please :)

by the way this is a codemaster's problem with the extradata issue. F1 2012 i think have this fixed, mine did the same thing a while back but the latest update got rid of this (I got this working with SLI-PRO) and that's how I know.
Dirt 2 works  but Dirt 3 totally flunked in this department. so I turned it off.

Hi Guys, I don't mean to hijack your thread. if you need me to move this or delete, im cool 8). I've received my progauge board , thanks Cristiano  :D
I just wanted to add, the Proparts Fuel gauges works well, (I've got the one with 10 pins) followed the instruction from this thread and got it all working. went and test with trucks, nationwide and Mx5 ( since I use Fuel% and I divided the  max fuel for each car by 8 to see if when fuel is depleted by that figure, the pins should hit the mark between, Full and 3/4, or 3/4 and 1/2), it got really close by 1mm and sometimes spot on and im pretty happy with it.

Also the water temp is pretty much spot on. so now Im waiting for the proparts 5" tach to arrive.
Special Thanks to MikePerry for answering everyone's question on iracing forum  and this forum, re wiring and compatibility (keep them videos running mate- loving it)
will post more once I can figure out how am I going to mount them in front of the wheel.
cheers,
Marcus
